Sara Murphy

ASHA Certified Speech Language Pathologist

Sarah Murphy

I’m Sara Murphy and my connection to speech therapy goes all the way back to grade school in South Carolina when I had speech therapy to correct a distorted /s/!  I attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science and a Masters of Speech-Language Pathology.   I hold my Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA and have worked in a variety of settings across several states in my nearly 20 year career.

I have experience and expertise in working with children with hearing impairment utilizing listening and spoken language.  I’m also very experienced working with children with language delay and disorder, articulation and speech sound disorders, and fluency disorders. My most important learning experience came as a mother when my son was diagnosed with a severe speech sound disorder at 2 years old.  I have taken many classes over the years to stay current in the field of Speech Pathology.  Viewing speech therapy from the parent’s role, however, has given me insight I could never get from a class.

I am passionate about developing literacy skills in all children and outside of my work as a Speech-Language Pathologist, I run the book fair and other school-based activities at my children’s elementary school.  I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and your child!
